Thermal power plants primarily rely on coal and gas combustion to generate steam, which drives turbines to produce electricity. The harsh operating environment, characterized by high temperatures, pressures, and humidity, necessitates the extensive use of refractory materials in constructing furnace linings, boilers, chimneys, and pipelines to ensure the equipment's proper operation. The following are commonly used refractory materials in thermal power plants:

  1. Refractory bricks: Refractory bricks are one of the most common refractory materials, widely used in combustion chambers, furnaces, boilers, and kilns in thermal power plants. Refractory bricks exhibit excellent high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and thermal shock resistance.

  2. Refractory castables: Refractory castables are high-temperature, high-strength concrete materials, typically composed of refractory clay, high-alumina cement, siliceous materials, and expanding agents. They are widely used in the furnaces, chimneys, and condensers of thermal power plants. Refractory castables possess excellent high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and thermal shock resistance, enabling stable operation at high temperatures for extended periods.

  3. Wear-resistant materials: Wear-resistant materials are usually made from high-alumina materials, silicon carbide, and zirconia. They are widely used in coal powder conveying pipes, precipitators, ash hoppers, and gas-induced draft fans in thermal power plants. Wear-resistant materials possess high wear resistance and impact resistance, effectively protecting equipment from wear and tear.

  4. Refractory insulation materials: Refractory insulation materials are typically made from alumina, silicates, and calcium silicate. They are widely used in boilers, chimneys, and pipelines in thermal power plants. Refractory insulation materials have high insulation performance and low thermal conductivity, effectively reducing heat loss and energy waste.

  5. Corrosion-resistant materials: Corrosion-resistant materials are usually made from high-purity alumina, zirconia, and silica. They are widely used in denitrification devices, dust collectors, and desulfurization devices in thermal power plants. Corrosion-resistant materials have high chemical corrosion resistance, effectively preventing damage to equipment from corrosive substances such as acids and alkalis.
