What is a refractory brick?
Simply put, a refractory brick is a type of brick that can withstand burning and high temperatures. Its refractory temperature is around 1700℃. It is usually made from refractory raw materials through batching, molding, and firing. Refractory bricks can be made for different purposes depending on the raw materials used, and different shapes can be made depending on the location of use.
Refractory materials are generally divided into two types: unshaped refractory materials and shaped refractory materials. Unshaped refractory materials, also called castables, are composed of various aggregates or aggregates and one or more binders. When used, they must be mixed evenly with one or more liquids, and have strong fluidity. Shaped refractory materials generally refer to refractory bricks, which have standard shapes and can also be temporarily processed as needed during construction and cutting.
What are the uses of refractory bricks?
1. Refractory bricks, with a refractory temperature of not less than 1750℃, are inorganic non-metallic products suitable for use as lining in various high-temperature kilns. Their main function is to protect the furnace shell steel structure from being melted by high temperatures.
2. Refractory bricks were early used in the ceramics industry to build kilns.
3. Due to their excellent refractory properties, they have also been used in industrial and household settings. Many people use refractory bricks to build villas, which can significantly improve fire safety.
4. The most common application of refractory bricks is in various thermal equipment and high-temperature containers, as structural materials and linings that resist high temperatures.
5. In the iron and steel industry, coke ovens are mainly composed of refractory materials. Blast furnaces and hot blast stoves for iron smelting, various steelmaking furnaces, soaking pits, heating furnaces, etc., all require various refractory materials that meet the requirements.
